Amusement Parks

Why is food at Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, Six Flags, and any other amusement park so dang expensive. But do not get me wrong I love going to six flags and it is the fact that these places are amazing that people will pay the price. It is like you have no choice I mean really as if you do not pay enough to get in the park, all the food is outrageous. How much money would they really loose by making their food prices a little cheaper? I would actually buy food in the park if it was cheaper rather than have a picnic in the parking lot. For example there is there one place in Disneyland where I am sure that everyone knows about where you can get McDonalds fries and for a large French fries it is like five something. If you went and got one right now down the street to any dang McDonalds you can get a large French fries for half the price. Here is an example at Knott’s Berry Farm there are two places that you can get funnel cake which is like the best in the world. I really wonder how much it cost to make a funnel cake. I do not know the price of them now but I remember if you wanted strawberries it is like two dollars extra. At my work I can get a twenty ounce bottle of soda for a dollar but all the vending machines in amusements parks are like three dollars, how crazy is that? I do not get it how they can charge so much money for the simple things just because they are in a gated fence that calls themselves Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, Six Flags, or any other amusements parks. What gets in the heads of people that they think paying that much for anything is ok, how in the right mind did the people come up with the idea of charge all this money for cheap food think that it was actually going to work. Was it always expensive even when they first opened?

  1. Interesting that you talked about this. It is not even amusement parks that only charge these outrageous prices, it is also concerts, carnivals, festivals, anything of this nature. I was at a concert this past saturday and a bottle of water was $3.50. So ridiculous. I feel like they plan this. They know that you are going to get hot and tired and hungry after walking around all day at one of these places so they just make the prices really high up. It is genius though because like you said, what else are you going to do? starve yourself? it is funny how we fall completely victim to this and there is ultimately nothing we can do about it. I think that the prices will only continue to raise in all honesty because how could you cheapen the prices after making all this money from them. Who knows? I guess time will tell.

  2. I completely agree with you about the prices in amusement parks. It is flat out outrageous. Not only are the amusements parks doing this to us but movie theaters as well. The movie tickets are as expensive as the dvds and the food there is expensive as well. Both movie theaters and amusements parks don't allow you to bring in your own food as well. I guess it is the amusement parks and theaters choice to charge expensively but I feel that is it not fair sometimes. Only way to really counter this is to stuff yourself with food before going in or to sneak some snacks in the back pocket.

  3. Ugh its infuriating, the price of a churro at Knott's Berry Farm is almost $5 a stick. I cringe every time I think about it. When I first started working at Knott's I was selling food at the carts and I have to sell these poor thirsty, sweaty and hot people water bottles for $4. It is just wrong, extortion to the max. Everything about theme park is fun, but it comes at a high price when you get hungry, because profit is the only thing in sight for the park. When I can I sneak food in, but even six flags doesn’t allow that, they force you to throw it all away. UGH! WASTE!
